Hi, I’m Tara.
I know how challenging it can be to navigate life with unanswered questions about yourself. I’ve worked with many people who struggled with symptoms that were given the wrong name and the wrong treatments. It leaves you feeling frustrated and discouraged. I’ve been there myself.
I started my professional career treating trauma. However, my career trajectory changed direction after I was diagnosed with ADHD. I went down the rabbit hole, learning the details of what it means to have a different neurotype. Soon after, I had a similar epiphany with autism. Hours of personal research turned into intensely focused professional training, and now I focus on clinical assessments of ADHD and autism.
In the last decade, research has fundamentally changed our understanding of ADHD and autism. Beyond the stereotypical presentations, it reveals the unexpected ways they can appear, both together and separately. Staying up to date on that research drives me both professionally and personally.
I utilize evidence-based assessments in my evaluations, and I dig deep. Beyond a basic understanding of your symptoms, I want to know what causes them, what function they serve, and what patterns they follow. Details like these help us determine both the root of your struggles and how they affect you as they do. Knowing the right answers about yourself helps you navigate life more effectively.
In my free time, I’m probably reading, writing, monologuing about ADHD and Autism to my husband, drinking far too much coffee, and playing with my two dogs, Zeus (who loves everyone and everything) and Loki (who’s terrified of everyone and everything).
What’s it like to work with me
I strive to be a safe person for neurodivergent people, who often feel judged or different. Warmth and compassionate curiosity guide everything I do. I want to thoroughly understand your experience and ensure the assessment process feels comfortable and neuroaffirming.
Being thorough and accurate is important to me. I welcome questions, concerns, and clarifications because they help us find the right answers. When the assessment is complete, I provide detailed explanations of your results and allow you plenty of time to process them before you leave.
In my office, you’ll find evidence of my fandom passions–mostly Ravenclaw paraphernalia–plus fidgets, soft things, and maybe a few too many dog pictures.
